Every Organization Needs A Website!Period

To find out about a church, business or other organization most people now access the web to get the information that they need. They will attempt to access the site from a search page with either their computer, tablet or smart phone. A site that can display properly on all of these devices is called responsive. The website has to have the organization name, address, contact information, hours and services. If there is no website or the site doesn’t display properly on their device, that organization will probably not be visited. It is considered as bad as not having a phone thirty years ago. Organizations with no website or an old non-responsive website are losing visitors and don’t even know it.

We build websites using the latest technology

We use Joomla! and WordPress web development tools for our new sites. Both of these content management systems (cms) are very popular and constantly updating. We can purchase pre-built templates for both tools that cuts development time down 75% while still providing customization so that no two sites look exactly alike. The tools and templates are periodically updated to work on browser changes. Both of these tools also allow for device responsiveness so that the website looks one way on a computer screen and dramatically different on a smartphone screen while allowing the user to easily navigate the site.

We provide search engine optimization services

We put relevant search engine information on each page of the website. We will register your site with Google and Bing search engines as well as adding Google Analytics to the website. We will also create a sitemap of your website and submit it to both search engines.

We can provide domain name and hosting services

We know how confusing it is to take care of domain names and website hosting issues. After working with several hosting companies and putting many sites online, I decided the best solution was to partner with InMotion Hosting and handle the hassles required to get a website live myself by providing my own website hosting and controlling the environment.

What makes us special is that we will update your content for you

On our Basic Hosting plan we do almost all of the work for you. We will build your ten page responsive website with the development tool that fits your need best, help determine a design template, register or transfer your domain name, provide the hosting for your website, register your site with Bing and Google search engines, update the site from information that you provide us, remove dated information when required, provide you with email capabilities and support your website for you.

Notice what we do and what you do. You provide us with information; we do all the website work. However, you or anyone that you designate can still update pages or the calendar when desired. You are given access to the back end of the website. Any updates that you do are not counted as one of ours.

How is information provided to us for updating the site?

You or staff members email us text and images that you want on the site and possibly where on the site that you want it. We will then update the site as soon as possible and return the email notifying you that the information has been updated.

What is considered a page update?

A page update is anytime that a file is opened, changed and saved on the website. Some examples are adding a sermon and link to the sermon page, adding a calendar event or updating some contact info.

Web pages are a collection of files that are displayed together. Sometimes the web page can be one file but quite often, it consists of many separate files that display together. A very simple example is that often times the top of the page normally known as the header is one file, the main body of a page is another file as well as the footer of the page. The page that displays all of the files at once is also another file which contains a command to display he header file, then display the body file which displays an image file and finally display the footer file. Most pages typically require at least five different files. Depending on the content management system used the files are called images, modules, articles, widgets, templates etc…

Most files for a website rarely need changed. Churches usually have very basic updates. Besides adding sermons and calendar events, needs may be changing a picture on the home page, changing staff information, or changing committee information. Another common need is creating a special event page such as a Christmas Eve Service or fundraiser which may require some images so it would require more than one update.

It should be noted that images are also files so if we have to change an image size, it is also considered a page update. We don’t recommend a large number of photo albums that must be updated because quite often the images have to be resized to a small size as well as a large size so a 20 picture photo album would be considered 41 page updates: 20 images times 2 plus putting them and the link on the page. We recommend using Facebook for photo albums because we can create a link on a page (one update) which points to the Facebook album. The viewer does not need to be a Facebook member to view the album. Facebook allows any size pictures to be uploaded and many more people are comfortable uploading images to Facebook.

*Unfortunately, unused page updates do not rollover into the next month. If for some reason you need more than your plan’s page updates, extra updates over the plan limit are $2.00 each billed separately. If you find that you consistently need more updates, please contact us to upgrade your plan.
